ROOM 23
Welcome back to Term 2. We have many exciting activities happening this term. We have a trip to Halswell Quarry coming up in Week 4 to look at animals in their natural environment, and how we can make changes to protect their habitats. Room 23 will be leading the Kākano assembly on May 30th. Well done to the children who completed their reading log in the holidays. We have had a great day today settling back into our routines, and welcoming children from Room 22 who will be joining us for learning opportunities as we work collaboratively for the remainder of the year.

Learning in Week 1 - Reviewing Learning Plan

For Week 1 of Term 2 all classes will be working on the same programme to ensure consistency of learning and behaviour routines across the school. This is called The Learning Plan

Learning in Week 2 and Beyond - Living World

For the the rest of the term all of the Kākano classes will be working on learning to think like scientists and answer this Big Question:

What changes do I need to make to protect
habitats and species?

We will be learning about habitats, how species have adapted to these habitats, and how we can protect both species and their habitats by making changes in the way we live.

If you wear gumboots to school, please be sure to bring shoes suitable for running around outside if the weather clears or to wear inside the classroom.
We don’t need to wear hats in Term 2 and 3.
In Term 2 and 3, many children get colds and have runny noses. We would appreciate a box of tissues, if have a spare you would like to donate to your class.
